Utilization of Wind Tunnel With Porous Flexible Wall for Aerodynamic Measurement(PI. Dr. Devenport)
  • Implemented Digital Image Correlation (DIC) techniques to measure deformation of a Kevlar plenum to find its Poisson’s ratio to allow for aerodynamic measurements without disrupting flow.
  • Designed an efficient method to speckle large sections of fabric for DIC measurements to reduce test setup from 5 hours to 1 hour.
  • Wrote MATLAB scripts to create speckle patters and calibration grid patterns to optimize DIC calibration to within ± 50 microns uncertainty for surface deformation measurements.
